Between the Lines (Between the Lines, #1)Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a fanservice to any bibliophile that ever fell in love with a literary character, for lovers of fairy tales, for tellers of tales, writers, dreamers, and readers. Switching back and forth between points of view, handsome prince book character slowly becomes aware of a world outside his own that isn’t limited like his, while teenage girl reader discovers the characters in her favorite fairy tale book might be real beings. The two begin communicating with each other, fall in love, and begin a fight to find a way to be together while friends and relatives worry about their sanity and well-being. In a similar vein to Inkheart, we even get to meet the author of the original story. People enter books, characters experience reality and of course, live happily ever after. If you have an advanced reader that might be too young for most young adult books, this is a safe choice. The romance is sweet and pure, lacking in edgy sex, drugs, and violence. If you love books and would like an escape, I recommend this book.
